Nancy is the sister of William Gillispie that married Lavania.
Nancy remarried after Paul Castleberry's death but it didn't
last. She married a fellow named Isaiah Waldrip. Some of the men
of the community discovered that he had a living wife and came
calling. Isaiah left the residence via the window and was never
heard from again. But poor Nancy had lost her pension from Paul.

Nancy had not approved of the North or the Civil War. Her children
had to sign affidavits of allegiance. I suspect Nancy did,too.
Her sons-in-law did not join the Confederate Army voluntarily.
Nancy swore that she was opposed to the war - not the yankees but
evidence showed that she constantly criticized the war, etc.

But Nancy's troubles were not over. She swore she married in 1825
but the first child (by the record) was born November 14, 1824 and the
second was born April 5,1826. Also, after Nancy had applied for her
Husband's pension she told the examiner she did not have his
certificate. The examiner said she couldn't have applied without it.

It seems that all of Nancy's acquaintances had to make statements
before the magistrate. 1. That Isaiah Waldrip had a living wife when
he married Nancy and; 2. That Nancy, in fact, had married Paul
and that her children were legitimate.

All's well that ends well and I believe Nancy finally got the pension.

On September 30, 1837 Nancy joined the Oak Grove Presbyterian Church.
